The Parlor

A welcoming spot to sit with a glass of wine or to plan your outing for the day, the Parlor offers comfortable furnishings and, in season, the warmth and glow of a pellet stove. Here is where the Innkeepers will usually offer refreshments to the guests upon their arrival, spending some time getting to know them and discussing their preferences for breakfast the next morning.

This room, which steps down into the sunken Dining Room and then out to the grounds (weather permitting), also provides the perfect spot for gathering at intimate weddings, parties or showers, with the open flow of the spaces encouraging mingling and conversation.

The Dining Room

Guests will enjoy their breakfast in this spacious room, with its wall of glass overlooking the patio and fish pond, and the lovely gardens and gazebo beyond. The space features a slate floor and an original hand-painted wall mural reminiscent of a Japanese garden. You may sit at a table for two, or join a group of friends at a table for eight or ten or more. Along with the Parlor, this room may be rented for private parties and is the ideal space for relaxed and convivial gatherings.

The Front Porch

Located off of the Parlor, the front porch overlooks the main street and is a charming place to sit with a glass of iced tea and watch the world go by. The lovely homes around the Inn offer a treat for the eye, as do the front gardens which are lovingly tended by the Innkeepers.

The Sitting Room (Upstairs, Guest Wing)

With a sofa, cable television, DVD player and a small refrigerator for beverages, the Sitting Room is a great place to unwind before heading to bed, or to wait for your travel companion(s) to finish dressing to go out for the evening. There's a desk for your laptop, with complimentary wireless Internet connection, as well as a comfy reading chair, with plenty of books and magazines and brochures with information on local attractions. For low-tech fun, board games are also available. Think of this room as your family room at home; put up your feet and relax.

The Grounds

If the weather is fair, plan to spend some time wandering the grounds. Whether it's to check out what's growing in the vegetable garden (those tomatoes may end up in your breakfast frittata), sip your morning coffee by the river's edge, or swing beneath the canopy of the property's impressive mature trees, your exploration will be well rewarded. The Innkeepers have done extensive work on the grounds, planting ornamental trees and creating perennial beds to provide beauty in every season. Francesca, in fact, received her Master Gardener's certificate from UCONN Extension, and her expertise and passion for gardening is evident at every turn. If there are fresh flowers in your room or the common areas, you have Francesca to thank(in fact, if you need any advice on when to prune your azaleas, or what to do about cutworms on your broccoli plants, just ask...)!
